Deye 5 kWh vs 10 kWh Lithium Battery: SE-G5.1-PRO-B vs SE-G10.2

Two Deye low-voltage lithium batteries cover the two sizes buyers ask for most: a 100 Ah module of about 5 kWh and a 200 Ah unit of about 10 kWh. The SE-G5.1-PRO-B stores 5.12 kWh of energy at a nominal voltage of 51.2 V. The SE-G10.2 stores 10.24 kWh of energy at the same nominal voltage of 51.2 V. They share LiFePO4 cells, a cycle life above 6000 cycles, CAN2.0 and RS485 communication and a 10-year warranty. What separates them is how much energy sits behind one set of terminals, how much of it the record recommends you use, and what each unit weighs. Every figure on this page is read from the two product records.

Energy, usable energy and amp-hours

The SE-G5.1-PRO-B is rated 5.12 kWh of energy and its record lists 5.12 kWh of usable energy, with a recommended depth of discharge of 90 %. The SE-G10.2 is rated 10.24 kWh of energy and lists 8.19 kWh of usable energy, with a recommended depth of discharge of 80 %. In amp-hours the SE-G5.1-PRO-B is 100 Ah and the SE-G10.2 is 200 Ah. The larger battery holds twice the rated energy, but the usable figure its record states is 8.19 kWh. If you size storage from a night-time load, size it from the usable figure of the unit you are buying, not from the number in its name.

Current: both stop at 100 A

The SE-G5.1-PRO-B record states a maximum charge current of 100 A and a maximum discharge current of 100 A, a recommended charge and discharge current of 50 A, and a peak of 150 A. The SE-G10.2 record states the same maximum charge current of 100 A and maximum discharge current of 100 A, a maximum rate of 0.5C in both directions, and a peak of 200 A for 10 seconds. So one SE-G10.2 stores more than one SE-G5.1-PRO-B but does not carry more continuous current. A load that asks the battery for more than that needs units in parallel, whichever model you choose.

Size, weight and mounting

The SE-G5.1-PRO-B measures 440 × 133 × 540 mm and weighs 45 kg; its record lists wall, floor and 19-inch rack mounting, and a built-in 125A 2P circuit breaker. The SE-G10.2 measures 710 × 133 × 540 mm and weighs 85 kg; it mounts on a wall, stacked on the floor or in a rack, and its record notes that the cabinet must be deeper than 600 mm. Both are rated IP20. On site the difference is handling: the smaller module is carried and hung on its own, the larger one arrives as a single 85 kg unit.

Expansion

Each record allows 64 units in parallel, or 32 without the external communication box (the SE-G10.2 record calls it a CAN-Box). The largest system the SE-G5.1-PRO-B record states is 327 kWh; for the SE-G10.2 it is 655 kWh. Both start from a single module, and both talk to the inverter over CAN2.0 and RS485. The SE-G5.1-PRO-B record also lists an energy throughput of 16 MWh; the SE-G10.2 record does not state one.

Which one for which load

Choose the SE-G5.1-PRO-B when the storage you need is close to 5 kWh, when you want to add capacity one 45 kg module at a time, or when the battery goes in a 19-inch rack. Choose the SE-G10.2 when you want 10.24 kWh of energy from one unit and one set of cables, and you have 710 mm of width and the lifting help for 85 kg. Neither record gives one battery more continuous current than the other, so the load alone does not decide between them: energy, weight and space do.

Where each one fits, and where it does not

Deye 5.12 kWh 51.2 V Lithium Solar Battery SE-G5.1-PRO-B

Best for

  • Projects with strict certification requirements (UL9540A, IEC62619)
  • 19-inch rack rooms in telecom and industry
  • Cold-climate sites using the optional -20 degrees Celsius charging
  • Hybrid systems on the 51.2 V low-voltage bus

Not for

  • High-voltage battery inverter equipment
  • Unprotected outdoor placement (IP20)
  • Sites above 2,000 m
  • Environments outside 5-95% humidity

Deye 10.24 kWh 51.2 V Lithium Solar Battery SE-G10.2

Not for

  • Outdoor or damp locations (IP20)
  • Sites above 2,000 m
  • Battery inverters of the high-voltage class
  • Sub-zero charging (0 degrees Celsius minimum)

Winner

SE-G5.1-PRO-B for about 5 kWh, a 19-inch rack or step-by-step expansion; SE-G10.2 for 10.24 kWh in one unit

Conclusion

Both batteries are 51.2 V LiFePO4 units with a cycle life above 6000 cycles and a 10-year warranty, and each delivers a maximum discharge current of 100 A. The decision is energy per unit and how you want to grow: the SE-G5.1-PRO-B gives 5.12 kWh of energy in 45 kg, the SE-G10.2 gives 10.24 kWh of energy in 85 kg.
